Small bubbles of oxygen produced by photosynthesis sway from the surface of the aquatic plants, sparkling as they float in the water.
The animals in the aquarium (fish, shrimp, and microorganisms) use this oxygen to breathe, and the aquatic plants use the carbon dioxide released by the animals to photosynthesize again.
