Get closer to animals

"Aqua Base" is an open space where you can get a close-up look at how the animals' food is prepared and how their breeding facilities are maintained.

It consists of a " Kitchen " where food for the animals is prepared and a " Labo " where the jellyfish are raised. Through conversations with the animal care staff and participation in hands-on programs, it is a learning area that stimulates the intellectual curiosity of both children and adults.

A panoramic view of the Aqua Base, which consists of two areas: the Kitchen and the Labo.
The idea behind this is to encourage people to fall in love with Jellyfish through communication.

Kitchen

You can get a close-up look at the process of preparing food for the Penguins, Fur Seals , and fish in the large aquarium, which is usually done in the back yard. Every day, the animal care staff adjusts the amount of food depending on the condition of the animals that day.

In the "Kitchen" you can get a close-up look at the food preparation that is usually done in the back room.
We have food prepared for the Penguins.

Labo

In the "Labo," you can see up close the development of jellyfish from birth to adulthood, as well as their reproductive activities. There are also jellyfish-related experience programs available.

All of the approximately 700 animals of 14 species at Sumida Aquarium were bred in this "Labo."
Each jellyfish has a different Jellyfish and diet, and we raise them with love and care.
We are showing you the growth process of Jellyfish from birth to adulthood, as well as the breeding process.
